Home Minister Amit Shah has officially arrived in West Bengal, where the family of Abhaya, a victim of rape and murder at RG Kar, has requested a meeting with him. The family's appeal is aimed at discussing the circumstances surrounding their daughter's case and seeking support from the central government. This case has garnered significant media attention and public concern regarding safety and governance in the state.
BJP leader Dilip Ghosh has commented on the situation, stating uncertainty regarding the potential meeting between Shah and Abhaya’s family. He remarked, “I don’t really know if they will meet. They have made a request. Now, it’s up to the current leadership to decide.” During a recent press briefing, Ghosh also addressed the issue of public trust in the state government, indicating that the family's request to meet with the Home Minister signifies a loss of faith in local authorities. He mentioned that families in similar situations are increasingly seeking support from the central government and even the Supreme Court to address their grievances.
As of now, there is no confirmed information regarding a meeting between Shah and Abhaya's family. Abhaya’s father has stated that they have not yet received any official communication about the meeting request, leaving the family uncertain about their next steps. Additionally, administrative sources have indicated that security concerns may limit Shah's ability to visit Abhaya's family directly. These logistical challenges could affect the potential for a face-to-face meeting, which is seen as significant for addressing the family's concerns.
